We LOVE Corvettes!

And we know that buying and selling and dealing with Corvettes and Corvette related stuff is half the fun of being a Corvette enthusiast!

In fact, that's what The Corvette List is all about!

And we would never do anything to get in the way of two Corvette enthusiasts making a deal.  As laissez-faire capitalists, we are strong believers in the free market and it is not our place to get in the middle of your deal.  Caveat emptor and all that...  We're not your mother.

That said, not everyone sees things as we do. Consequently, there are some lines in the sand we better not cross.

In other words, we need to keep it clean.

But what, exactly, is clean?

Ask 100 people, you'll get 100 different answers.  And all of them are arbitrary.  That is, any rules made up somewhere to define what is acceptable and what isn't are purely man-made rules and presumably reflect the sentiment of that particular, local society.

Of course, with this internet thing, all Eggport Lists, including The Corvette List, have global reach, and are available to all of the local societies in the world!  So whose set of rules do we use to determine what is acceptable?

Simple. We use our own rules!

Why and how they got to be our rules is a subject best saved for another discussion, but suffice it to say they are based on sound marketing, cultural, anthropological, and, of course, legal considerations.

And hey, it's our house! You wanna play here, you gotta play by the house rules, right? That's only fair.

Remember, we love everything and everyone Corvette.  Sometimes it's gonna be tough love, but we are all in this together so let the Corvette fun begin!

 

IN GENERAL

Let's start by understanding what's the deal.

In general, the purpose of The Corvette List is to help Corvette sellers, buyers, owners, and enthusiasts buy, sell, and find cars, parts, services, jobs, dates, and anything Corvette related.  That cuts a pretty wide swath for one set of guidelines to cover, but hey, this is Eggport Lists!  We can do that with ease.

The best way to buy, sell, or find Corvette stuff these days is online, and on a website run by folks who have been there, done that, and understand totally where you are coming from.  That is where The Corvette List comes in.

The Corvette List is a simple, pure, classified advertising website.  You (and other Corvette folks) pay us a nominal fee, typically around ten bucks, to publish your ad, the content of which you create yourself and send to us by filling out an Ad Submission Form in Step 2.

That's it!

We don't sell anything else.

We don't even nickel and dime you with add-ons to your ad.

We do not and will not inject ourselves into your deal in any way.  We don't take a commission on your sales.  We' don't require you to run any communication, financial transaction, or anything else through us.

To be clear, whatever you and the person who responds to your ad do once you hook up is none of our business.  Nor is it our responsibility.  Be sure you completely understand that before placing an ad on The Corvette List!

That means don't come crying to us if the transaction doesn't turn out the way you expected.  If you are going to advertise on the internet be sure you are wearing your grown-up pants, OK?

And that brings us to:

 

THE RULES

Don't you hate fine print? We sure do.  So you won't find any here.  Just common sense stuff that will help keep us both in business.

Rule Number 1:  You must me at least eighteen (18) years old to place an ad on The Corvette List.

The legal reasons for this, dealing with contracts and such, are well known.

But another reason is that users of The Corvette List - those you are trying to reach with your ad - know that, unlike those free community listing sites who let anyone and everyone post whatever they wish, and do so anonymously, the 18 or older requirement here substantially cuts down on garbage posts.  Good for you; not so good for kids.

When you place an ad you need to swear, certify, affirm, and promise that you are at least 18 years old.  We will ask your age and we'll start off trusting that you have told us the truth.  But if we get the least tiny bit suspicious that you are not yet 18, we may ask for some proof of age before we publish your ad.

Rule Number 2:  No Child Porn!  We will absolutely not tolerate child porn or underage anything on our websites - Absolute Zero Tolerance.

Rule Number 3:  No Porn of any kind.  Actually there is a whole list of no's in Rule 3 - no pornography, obscenity, vulgarity, indecency, or bestiality.  Don't try to slip that past us, as we review each and every ad before we publish it.

The Corvette List is 100% G-Rated, suitable for work, and suitable to show your kids the car you are considering buying.

Babes in bikinis next to a Corvette or some Corvette stuff?  Sure!  We love babes!  And babes and Corvettes go together naturally, anyway, right? (What about studs?  All Corvette guys are studs, aren't they?  Just being a Corvette guy makes one a stud!)

Occasionally some stuff might be marginal.  In that case we will contact you to allow you to tame it down just a bit.  But if you use common sense we should have no problem.

For sure, the following is not allowed - to reiterate Rule 2, no child porn or anything remotely underage.  There will be no dialog on that.  It is not permitted.  Period.  And again, nothing pornographic, vulgar, obscene or indecent.

What is pornographic, obscene or indecent, you ask?  Great question, by the way.  Really, a question for the ages with answers that define a society.  Kind of an easy answer for us, though.  Remember, we are serious defenders of free speech and in no way do we want to censor your ad.  We are giving you as much freedom as you could reasonably need (and that we can allow) to get a response to your ad.  But some stuff is over the line and here is how you can figure out how we determine which is which.

Sometimes a mildly sexy ad can be fun and playful and help get attention, especially in our Corvette Singles section.  Lust can sell stuff, get dates, and get responses to your ad, for sure.  That is OK with us, as long as your ad is tasteful and there is some redeeming purpose to any non-Corvette content.

But we will not allow anything morbid, patently offensive, unhealthy, gross, deviant, lewd, or any content that only appeals to the most base, prurient interests.

Here is a clue:  If there is something in your ad that would make most folks go "Ewww..." then leave it out.  If you have to think about whether we'll accept it or not, we probably will not. But please feel free to ask us first if you are not sure. As always, we are here to help you get a response to your Corvette related ad, and we are happy to help you work through any gray areas.

Rule Number 4: No profanity.  Watch your language.  You can describe pretty much anything you want - we have no prohibition on that (subject to Rule 3.)

But try to be a little classy, OK?

This can be confusing, because we don't censor your ads and we certainly do allow you to explicitly describe whatever you feel the need to describe, using whatever words you feel necessary - no limit.  You know, that Free Speech thing.  We simply ask that you find a way to describe your offering without having to resort to profane or vulgar language.

You can do Free Speech and good taste at the same time, right?

Rule Number 5:  No hating!  Your ad is supposed to be about Corvettes and Corvette stuff.  And to get a response to your ad you don't need to say anything hateful or defamatory about anyone else, and we will not permit that.  So, no ethnic or racial slurs, no insults, and no threats.  Be nice, OK?

Rule Number 6:  Nothing Illegal.  We will not accept ads for anything illegal.  That includes offering for sale counterfeit goods, stolen goods, pirated media or software, drugs, bodily fluids or parts, stuff you don't have the right to sell, and, in general, bad stuff.  We'll have a complete list in our Terms and Conditions, but you get the idea.

Rule Number 7:  Be honest.  Don't make up stuff that isn't true. Don't misrepresent your car or whatever you are selling.  If you are brokering a car, for example, say so!  Don't try to pass it off as yours.  Corvette buyers appreciate your honesty.

That's it.  Seven simple and sensible Rules.  Rules that are far more liberal than those free community listing or alternative newspaper sites.  And there is more good news, too!  Read on...

 

THE GOOD NEWS

The Rules above are not too bad, are they?  And remember all the good stuff we do for you - more than anyone else!

Exclusive Website ~ To start, The Corvette List is just for Corvettes and Corvette stuff!  There are no ads for used bicycles, dog walkers, computer repair or garage sales.  It is clean.  Open.  Simple.  Uncluttered.  Easy to read.

No Crap ~ Since all the ads here are paid ads, visitors to The Corvette List know you are real.  They know the freeloaders and riff-raff are eliminated.  Visitors also know that scammers, spammers, and con artists tend to avoid posting on websites where they can be tracked by the credit card they used to pay for the ad, so fraud and crime is seriously minimized.  All of that is great for you!

Great Looking Ad ~ You not only get your own Listing in the proper Classified Section here on The Corvette List, but you also get a full page Corvette Display Ad at no additional charge.  And what a Display Ad it is!  Since there is no limit on how much you can say about what you are offering, there is plenty of room to say everything you wish and to tell a story that is compelling enough to give those reading your ad a reason to contact you!

You may have noticed that from the time a visitor first sees The Corvette List home page, they will know this is a dedicated, Corvette-only website.  We do a pretty good job of getting visitors primed, excited and eager to read your ad.  The ample space in your Display Ad gives you plenty of opportunity to close the deal.

Multiple Listings Available ~ You are free, of course, to buy listings in more than one Section if they are applicable.

Free Link To Your Website ~ If you have your own website, feel free to include a link to it in your ad!  Obviously if it is a scam site or if it installs malware and the like, we'll remove the link.  But if it is a legitimate site, include it in your Display Ad with our compliments.  Bonus: The more inbound links to your site from legitimate websites like The Corvette List, the higher your ranking in the search engines.  Many folks buy ads on our Eggport Lists sites just for that valuable "Google juice!"

Free Links To Your Video ~ If you have any videos online, be sure to include links to them in your ad, too, no extra charge.

Include Up To 12 Photos ~ You know how important your photos are, right?  Those photos typically make or break selling a Corvette or anything Corvette related.  You gotta have photos.  We include all your photos - up to 12 and at a good size size, too - on the same page as your display ad.  Potential buyers don't have to click and click and click on tiny thumbnails to see all of your pictures, and then wind up being annoyed with you after finding that each click has opened another new window on their computer!  We keep everything in your Display Ad - all the big pictures, all your info, everything - on one awesome page.  Yes, it is more expensive for us to do that for you, but we know that tiny pictures and constant clicking will not help sell your car or whatever.  Oh... we'll watermark your photos for you, too, if you wish, to help eliminate others from using your pictures.

Your Space Is Your Space ~ We promise that there will never be any other advertising on the page with your Display Ad - not even a list of the other classified sections here on The Corvette List.  You are paying for eyeballs here, and we are not going to put anything else on your page that will pull those eyeballs away from your ad.  Think about it.  Why would anyone pay good money to have a display ad online, but then allow that ad to be surrounded by competing ads? That would be absurd, wouldn’t it?  We will not do that to you.  Your page is your page and yours alone.  Sell your Corvette!  Sell your Corvette service or product.  But don’t spend your money to help someone else sell their stuff on a page you paid for!  That’s nuts.

Your Ad Looks Great Everywhere ~ The Corvette List and your ad are optimized to look great on all devices.  Whether your potential buyer is viewing your ad on a cell phone, tablet, laptop, desktop, or big screen TV, it will display properly!  Our pages adapt to the screen size.  This allows those looking at your ad to focus on the content of your ad, not their device.  Even our shimmering black borders and that sharp red line at the top of the screen are designed to separate your Display Ad from their browser's menus and such.

Your Ad Cannot Be Flagged ~ This is a biggie!  Unlike those free, community edited classified sites or those with a long list of prohibitions, your ad on The Corvette List can not be flagged for removal by a competitor, an ex, someone having issues, or anyone else.  The First Amendment and our policies (subject to the 7 Rules above) protect your ad from indiscriminate removal.  That alone is worth ten bucks, isn't it?

No Ad Ghosting, Ever ~ We won't lead you to believe your ad has been approved and is live, but then hide it from everyone else in the world but you.  Some of those free sites do that all the time.  We don't.

10 Bucks / 45 Days ~ That is dirt cheap!  The cost to run an ad in most of the Classified Sections of The Corvette List is $10, and those ads run for a full 45 days.  See the specific prices for all Classified Sections on the Place Your Ad - Step 1 page, but for now most of them are 10 Bucks for 45 Days.  It won't be that cheap forever, but it is today.  And since new ads are placed at the top of the list in most Sections, it is really inexpensive to stay near the top by renewing your ad.  And coming soon, ad packages that include several "Bumps" to the top of the list!

Free Edits ~ If you need to change your ad in any way, or even remove it, no problem.  Let us know and it's done.

No Registration Or Fees Required ~ This may be, for you, the most important benefit of all!  There is absolutely no registration requirement or fees whatsoever needed for visitors to look around anywhere on The Corvette List or to be able to contact you directly.  We don't place cookies on computers or track anyone's browsing habits.  Everyone is free to view The Corvette List anonymously.  Because your potential buyers know that browsing The Corvette List is discreet and anonymous, it means even more eyeballs seeing your ad - way more!

Live Support ~ Most pages on The Corvette List have a Contact Us button.  Click that to reach us by email, a contact form, or by telephone.  Customer service is a top priority of ours and we respond to your requests promptly.  If you call and get our voicemail, a real, live human will call you back - probably a Corvette owner!
